 Hard Earned Scrub
« Thread Started on Oct 11, 2009, 7:28am »

well i had a bad shot/deer, it turned out well but was an ordeal. i was 25' in climber tick toter came by before i could untie hoist cord from my E'cet 200. i was testing a meat seeker 2 blade. est. shot was 40 yds, was 41. shot thru limbs saplins downed trees. angled away but not a 90 degree. i made the shot hunted another hr & half before getting down. went to area found arrow had drop of blood. cast about fer 15-20 min found light drops of blood. i am picking this trail fer 45 min or so about a third of a mile. it jumps up out of high weeds and jumps a 4' hog fence, i lead it and shot it with my slick and log arrow. it thumps like a ripe mellon. i watch deer run thru woods, blood trail is immediate. i wait another hr, walk to where i last saw it move and it was there dead. the meat seeker slicded and or skidded about 8" on right shoulder, see in pick. i can't say it failed but i won't be using another of them!

That was a great follow up shot.
Did you happen to find the meat seeker?
Just curious.
Congratulations again ::)

yes i found meat seeker & arrow it was on at site of shot. arrow has slight bend no good anymore. meat seeker hit rock after shot, i can tell as its pt is curled abit & the blades are well dulled with flattened edges up by pt.

That head passed all phases of testing but failed the hard quartering shot portion.
Unfortunately, we found out the same way you did.
I had run of of time on the test and Greg had one head....so he purposefully waited for a hard quartering.
We got the deer but the results were disastrous.

::) congrats on your deer and double that for what sounds like a great job trailing and follow-up shot.

Congrats, Mike! Gotta love those Slicks! I don't know if it's just me and my crappy memory, but sure seems to me like the older ones I had 1st a few years ago sure had better steel in the blades.
